History of Power BI

In this tutorial, we are going to learn about the History of Power BI.

Power BI History

Power BI was started in 2006 as a top-secret project with a code name Gemini. The infancy of Power BI was created by Thierry D’hers and Amir Netz from Microsoft’s SQL Server Reporting Services Team. Gemini first appeared in 2009 as "PowerPivot," a free Excel extension. However, the data science community was mostly unaware of it until Microsoft PowerPivot expert Rob Collie tweeted about it to Excel users. In 2015 Microsoft paired and remained the business intelligence as Power BI. The excitement had brought over 500,000 unique users signed on to test and help design this revolutionary tool. After a couple of months Power BI went live & public.

And the rest is history.
