Job Summary

PayU is looking for a visionary and driven Associate Director – Startup Sales to manage and grow relationships with India’s most promising startup founders. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for scaling PayU’s payment, credit, and technology solutions within the startup ecosystem, influencing growth journeys, GTM execution, and fundraising enablement. This is a leadership position that offers a front-row seat to India's fintech revolution.


About the Team

  1. The Startup Sales Team partners directly with India’s top founders to power their business growth using payment, lending, and data services.

  2. This team plays a strategic role in customer success, focusing on long-term relationships, innovation, and startup-specific solutions tailored to dynamic business needs.

  3. The team works closely with Product, Technology, and Marketing to co-create unique value for every startup partnership.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Build and nurture strategic relationships with founders, CXOs, and decision-makers across early- and growth-stage startups.

  2. Drive adoption of PayU’s integrated fintech solutions: payments, data products, embedded lending, and more.

  3. Own the P&L responsibility for your startup portfolio and maximize account-level ROI.

  4. Design and execute customized GTM (Go-to-Market) strategies for startup clients.

  5. Collaborate with startups to assist in fundraising, scaling, and financial strategy discussions.

  6. Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Operations to deliver high-value service and solutions.

  7. Track venture investments, startup trends, and ecosystem shifts to inform strategic priorities.

  8. Represent PayU at industry events, panels, and startup forums to build market visibility and network.

  9. Ensure strong customer retention, up-sell opportunities, and stakeholder satisfaction.

  10. Use CRM and analytics tools to track deal flow, conversion, pipeline health, and forecast accuracy.


Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Technology; MBA preferred.

  2. 8+ years of experience in strategic B2B sales, account management, or business development, preferably in fintech, payments, or SaaS.

  3. Proven track record of managing CXO-level relationships and delivering on account growth KPIs.

  4. Deep understanding of startup and venture capital ecosystems.

  5. Familiarity with digital payments, embedded finance, and lending products.

  6. Strong storytelling and executive communication skills with excellent presentation capabilities.

  7. Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to lead complex, high-value partnerships.

  8. Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and client-facing consultative skills.
