About the Role
Report to the Director of Engineering and lead multiple pods of full-stack engineers and managers.
Hire, mentor, and develop diverse engineering teams while fostering Remitly’s cultural values.
Oversee all aspects of software development, technical roadmaps, and reduction of technical debt.
Partner with Product Management and Engineering Management to align strategy with customer-centric outcomes.
Integrate scalable platforms connecting with global bank APIs for fund management.
Enhance payment services for new markets, disbursement methods, fraud risk reduction, and operational support.
Build resilient systems to manage external system outages effectively.
Provide technical strategy balancing immediate needs and long-term vision.
Be a role model for integrity, transparency, and courage, and provide honest feedback.
Responsibilities
Manage and mentor engineers and managers for growth and impact.
Define and drive technical designs, processes, and strategies across teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create outstanding payment services.
Support technical decisions with a customer-first mindset.
Partner closely with business, product, and engineering teams to align vision.
Build and maintain distributed systems and microservice architectures in production.
Requirements
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (MS preferred).
5+ years of experience building and leading empowered, diverse teams.
Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and system architecture.
Experience in defining technical processes and system design patterns.
Active participation in hiring, coaching, and retention of engineering talent.
Ability to balance immediate partner needs with long-term technical vision.
Excellent collaboration skills across engineering and non-engineering teams.
