Job Title: Coding Analyst
Position Summary:
The Coding Analyst is responsible for reviewing, auditing, and coding medical records to ensure reimbursement, training, education, and compliance. The primary role is to assess medical records for complete and accurate documentation and collaborate with departments and providers to identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • CPC Certification through AAPC or AHIMA, Required
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical workflow
  • Expert in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
  • Minimum 5 years of coding knowledge, including E&M and surgery
  • Training experience preferred
  • Expert experience with CCI edits
  • Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) experience required
  • Denial management and appeals experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of billing and coding requirements for government and commercial payers

Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records to determine the appropriate codes for each diagnosis and procedure.
  • Ensure coding is accurate and complies with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain additional information when necessary.
  • Provide feedback and education to healthcare providers on coding and documentation best practices.
  • Conduct audits of coding processes and documentation to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to coding regulations and guidelines and update coding processes accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and billing specialists, to ensure billing and reimbursement processes are efficient and accurate.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS-Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Account for internal control responsibilities in line with the organization’s objectives.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance when handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Perform additional account management duties as requested or assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 5%

  • Primarily sedentary, using a computer and phone frequently
