Job Description: Engineering Lead

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement and Diversity

  • Understand and explain the community career lattice to team members.

  • Promote diversity and inclusion in professional interactions and highlight any deviations.

  • Actively work to improve diversity during recruitment processes.

  • Organize educational and bonding community events, both in-person and virtual.

  • Conduct hiring discussions and participate in college recruitment, job fairs, and hackathons.

  • Identify potential retention risks and take proactive measures.

  • Mentor team members on community brand positioning strategies.

Delivering Engineering Excellence

  • Elicit project expectations and communicate them to stakeholders.

  • Understand your competency and proficiency role mapping.

  • Provide regular performance feedback and assist in developing improvement plans.

  • Track team performance and report risks to project delivery.

  • Collaborate with engineering managers to review metrics and ensure project goals are met.

  • Provide consistent feedback to peers and recognize team achievements.

Fostering Competency Development

  • Identify and address the enablement needs of your team.

  • Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and work with enablement teams to tailor programs.

  • Drive best practices for competency mapping and gap closure.

  • Help team members explore career opportunities within Cognizant.

Operational Efficiency

  • Maintain an updated skill profile and manage interview panel nominations.

  • Track interview and onboarding progress for new hires.

  • Support new community members during their transition.

  • Drive community-specific performance management processes.

  • Monitor the Rewards and Recognition process and motivate timely rewards.

Building Organizational Interconnects

  • Facilitate discussions with your team about career track aspirations.

Engineering Mindshare

  • Identify and contribute ideas that can become reusable assets, including white papers and case studies.

Required Skills

  • Must-Have: AWS Cloud, API, Spring Boot, Cassandra, Java, Oracle.
