Your Role: Data Engineer at Amgen
In this essential role, you’ll contribute to designing, developing, and implementing data pipelines and integration solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and secure data systems while leveraging cloud platforms to meet evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement data pipelines, ELT processes, and data integration solutions.
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Lake team to ensure alignment with architectural and development guidelines.
- Maintain data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and monitoring.
- Leverage cloud platforms (AWS, Databricks preferred) to develop scalable and efficient data solutions.
- Gain a basic understanding of core business challenges and explore opportunities to apply analytics.
- Review third-party providers for technical fit with data management needs.
- Ensure cost observability and control mechanisms in data platform management.
- Use tools like GIT, Jenkins, and code migration tools for version control.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in data technologies.
What We Expect From You
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 0-1 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience OR
- Diploma with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
Required Skills
- Familiarity with common data processing libraries: Pandas, PySpark, SQL Alchemy.
- Experience with data lake, data fabric, and data mesh concepts.
- Proficiency in data modeling, performance tuning, and relational databases.
- Hands-on experience building ELT pipelines using SQL/NoSQL.
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python.
- Experience with AWS Cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with version control (Git, GitLab), CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab), and DevOps.
- Experience with Agile development environments.
- Cloud Certifications (AWS, Databricks, Microsoft) are a plus.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of R language is an advantage.
- Familiarity with AI tools for development efficiency like GitHub Copilot, Databricks Assistant, and Amazon Q Developer.
- Exposure to disaster recovery planning and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
- Basic understanding of AI/ML for monitoring and distributed systems.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
