Job Description
Norstella is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a background in Data Warehouse & Technology to manage and integrate business applications into the data warehouse. The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, deploying, and supporting various data management technologies and architectures.
You will play a crucial role in collecting and ingesting data, developing data models and data engines, automating data pipelines, and ensuring they are production-ready. Additionally, you will integrate applications, accelerate data delivery, and improve enterprise data quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze data sources and prepare data ingestion pipelines.
- Stage, assess, and cleanse data.
- Design and implement ETL jobs and transformations for a data lake and data warehouse.
- Integrate data pipelines with the enterprise data warehouse following architecture principles.
- Monitor and optimize data loads for reporting and extraction.
- Administer the data warehouse (manage space, indexing, performance monitoring, database integrity).
- Monitor data retrieval trends to maintain high-quality control.
- Administer user access based on data governance policies.
- Participate in data workshops and collaborate with business and technology teams.
Key Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in cloud technology, especially AWS stack.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Glue and Apache Airflow.
- Strong development skills in Python, T-SQL, and C# (minimum 4 years).
- Expertise in data modeling for data warehouse concepts (fact tables, lookup tables, views, stored procedures, row-level security).
- 4+ years of experience working with Data Lakehouse (especially Snowflake).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to learn quickly.
- Experience working in fast-paced projects with tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and testing skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience
- Real-time data processing with Apache Kafka.
- Experience working with or supplying data to visualization tools (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI).
- Understanding of data integration patterns.
- Exposure to software development for analytic applications.
