Job Title: Data Science Lead Analyst

Job Overview:
The Data Science Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays current with developments in the field and contributes to directional strategy by applying insights to both their role and the broader business context. As a recognized technical authority, you will provide guidance and counsel on technology and operations, impacting the performance and effectiveness of your area and the organization as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct strategic data analysis to identify insights, implications, and make informed recommendations; create data displays that effectively communicate complex analyses.
  • Mine and analyze data from various banking platforms to optimize processes and enhance data quality.
  • Deliver analytics initiatives to tackle business challenges, determining necessary data, assessing project timelines, and establishing project plans.
  • Collaborate with business clients to identify functional specifications, understanding how multiple areas integrate to achieve business objectives.
  • Consult with users to resolve complex system issues by evaluating business processes, systems, and industry standards, recommending viable solutions.
  • Lead the system change process from requirements gathering to implementation, providing operational support to business users.
  • Formulate and define project scope and goals through research and fact-finding, aligned with business systems and industry standards.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables that impact your team and related work teams directly.
  • Assess the implications of technology applications within the current business environment, identifying risks and impacts.
  • Facilitate communication between business leaders and IT, demonstrating strong communication and diplomacy skills to convey complex information effectively.
  • Conduct workflow analysis and business process modeling; develop use cases, test plans, and business rules, and assist in user acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of scalable and reliable workflow solutions that integrate with reporting systems.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of supported business areas, engaging with partners to evaluate opportunities for process integration and improvement.
  • Gather requirements and provide solutions across different business sectors.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze current processes and identify improvement opportunities, including creating target operating models.
  • Negotiate for resources from other areas to ensure timely project completion.
  • Maintain ongoing documentation and provide training for new and existing users.
  • Communicate status updates, issues, and risk management strategies to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Ensure that business cases and cost-benefit analyses align with organizational objectives.
  • Deliver clear communications regarding project scope, progress, and outcomes.
  • Develop strategies to reduce costs, manage risks, and enhance services.
  • Utilize influencing and matrix management skills to ensure technology solutions meet business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, while consistently assessing risks in decision-making, prioritizing the firm’s reputation and compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree in Information Systems, Business Analysis, or Computer Science.
  • 6-10 years of experience in using statistical modeling tools for large datasets.
  • Experience in process improvement or project management.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, potentially a Master’s degree.

Additional Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in the analytics industry.
  • Proficient in data handling tools such as Python, Spark, R, Hive, SAS, SQL, or similar.
  • Strong ability to extract strategic insights from large datasets.
  • Experience in designing and implementing machine learning models and algorithms, with familiarity in frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Proficient in statistical techniques (e.g., forecasting, regression, optimization) and machine learning algorithms (e.g., GBM, Decision Trees).
  • Strong interest in applying quantitative analysis within finance, risk, or business economics.
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Skilled in core Python development, with extensive expertise in building scalable and efficient software for data processing.
  • Expert-level knowledge of core Python libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) and familiarity with OOP concepts and design patterns.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
  • Highly experienced with Unix-based operating systems and proficient in writing SQL queries.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Bitbucket or Git.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience in the banking domain, particularly in pricing or risk management.
  • CFA or FRM certification is a plus.
