Role Description

The Data Science Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays updated on industry developments and contributes to the overall strategic direction of the business. Responsibilities

• Conduct strategic data analysis to identify insights and implications, making informed recommendations while developing data visualizations that effectively communicate complex analyses.
• Mine and analyze data from various banking platforms to enhance optimization and improve data quality.
• Lead analytics initiatives to solve business problems, including determining data requirements, assessing time and effort, and establishing project plans.
• Collaborate with business clients to define system functional specifications, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas integrate to achieve business objectives.
• Evaluate and resolve complex system issues through in-depth assessments of business processes, systems, and industry standards, providing actionable recommendations.
• Oversee the system change process from requirements gathering to implementation, offering user and operational support to business stakeholders.
• Define project scope and goals through research and fact-finding, while ensuring alignment with applicable business systems and industry standards.
• Ensure the quality of work produced by yourself and others, directly impacting the team and closely related work areas.
• Assess the implications of technology applications on the current business environment, communicating risks and impacts effectively.
• Facilitate communication between business leaders and IT, demonstrating strong communication and diplomacy skills to relay complex information.
• Perform workflow analysis and business process modeling, creating use cases, test plans, and business rules; assist in user acceptance testing.
• Collaborate on the design and implementation of scalable, reliable workflow solutions that integrate with reporting systems.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of supported business areas, engaging with partners to identify opportunities for process refinement and integration.
• Gather requirements and deliver solutions across business sectors.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze, deconstruct, and map current state processes while identifying improvement opportunities and creating target operating models.
• Assist in negotiating for resources across departments to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and provide training for new and existing users.
• Communicate project status, issues, and risk management strategies to all stakeholders, including senior management.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies when necessary.
• Ensure that business case workflows and cost-benefit analyses align with organizational objectives.
• Deliver clear communications regarding the scope, progress, and results of ongoing initiatives.
• Develop strategies to reduce costs, manage risks, and enhance services.
• Utilize influencing and matrix management skills to ensure technology solutions meet business requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: MBA or advanced degree in Information Systems, Business Analysis, or Computer Science; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience: 6-10 years of experience in the analytics industry, with a strong focus on statistical modeling of large datasets.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in data handling tools such as Python, Spark, R, HIVE, SAS, SQL, or similar.
  • Expertise in extracting strategic insights from large datasets.
  • Experience designing and implementing machine learning models and algorithms, with familiarity in frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods (forecasting, regression, optimization) and machine learning techniques (e.g., GBM, Decision Trees).
  • Strong understanding of the finance/risk domain and business economics.
  • Proficiency in visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Skilled in core Python development, including libraries such as pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
  • Experience with Unix-based systems and SQL query writing.
  • Familiarity with source code management tools such as Bitbucket or Git.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience in the banking sector, particularly in pricing or risk management.
• CFA or FRM certification is a plus.
