The Cloud App and Identity Research (CAIR) team leads security research for Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, working on AI and cloud threats with a team of passionate, top-tier researchers.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of programming experience with C/C++/C#/Python.
Hands-on experience with Spark, Azure ML, SQL, KQL, Databricks.
Proficient in building data and feature engineering pipelines using SQL, PySpark, Azure Data Studio.
Strong knowledge in ML techniques: Classification, Prediction, Anomaly Detection, Optimization, Graph ML, NLP.
Comfortable handling high-dimensional, complex data from multiple sources.
Experience in cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Skilled with relational databases, big data tools (e.g., PySpark), and Azure storage technologies (ADLS, Cosmos DB).
Experience with Generative AI is a plus.
Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields.
Responsibilities
Design and implement algorithms to detect and prevent real-world sophisticated cloud-based attacks in the SaaS ecosystem.
Collaborate with data scientists to build machine learning systems using Gen AI and graph-based techniques.
Combine and analyze multiple datasets to uncover patterns, tell compelling data stories, and reveal business opportunities.
Develop scalable feature engineering pipelines in a PySpark-based environment.
Apply advanced methods and tools from Microsoft and the scientific community to solve complex problems.
Work closely with Threat Researchers, Engineers, and Product teams to define success metrics.
Actively engage in the security research ecosystem via papers, presentations, and blogs.
Provide subject matter expertise to customers based on industry trends and product insights.
