Role Overview
Mastercard Developers is Mastercard’s primary API platform used by partners globally to access a wide range of payment, data, loyalty, and security APIs. This team plays a key role in shaping the developer experience through scalable, intuitive, and secure API services. Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer who will drive innovation and build world-class developer tools for a global audience.
This role focuses on high-volume web services and continuous delivery practices, with close collaboration across international teams to deliver secure and user-friendly platform experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning, design, and implementation of technical solutions for global internal and external customers.
Scope, develop, deliver, test, and iterate features for the evolving Mastercard API Platform.
Contribute to Mastercard Open Source projects, especially API client libraries involving signing and encryption.
Ensure continuous integration and automation of builds, deployments, configurations, and validations.
Collaborate with global tech, data, and operations teams to support platform execution.
Act as a subject matter expert on API platform components and provide occasional support for customer integrations.
Required Experience
6–9 years of experience in Java development and object-oriented programming.
Strong background in web application development with a focus on performance and scalability.
Experience working in Agile environments and deploying code through frequent releases.
Familiarity with API development and associated security models.
Exposure to DevOps tools and automation practices is an advantage.
Passion for building intuitive, user-centric, and responsive solutions.
