Job Summary
The Lead Systems Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and delivery of complex process control systems.
This role includes direct involvement in system specification, component selection, and integration while ensuring technical excellence and compliance.
The engineer plays a critical role in guiding both in-house and third-party technical teams during the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Functional
Support the Project Manager in analyzing customer requirements to define optimal control system architecture and component selection.
Provide updates to the Project Engineer regarding activity status, schedule adherence, and budget alignment.
Occasionally perform on-site start-up and commissioning for process control systems.
Leadership
Deliver written and verbal status reports and participate in project review meetings.
Visit internal or third-party panel manufacturing facilities for inspection, progress reviews, and final sign-offs.
Coordinate remote or outsourced resources, ensuring their output meets quality and customer specifications.
Interpersonal
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Integrate seamlessly into multidisciplinary project teams.
Business
Execute technical responsibilities for projects valued up to $500K concurrently.
Ensure personal contribution to schedule adherence, cost control, and client satisfaction targets.
Review hardware/software design for code compliance and safety best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
Proficiency with Rockwell Automation systems including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, GuardLogix, AAdvance, and Trusted.
Minimum 5 years of experience in PLC programming, including PID, control sequences, and narrative development.
Minimum 5 years of experience in HMI programming for process control, alarms, monitoring, and database interaction.
