Role Overview
Mastercard is hiring a Manager, Data Scientist to join its Product Data & Analytics team. This role focuses on driving actionable insights that optimize portfolio performance, enable revenue growth, and support go-to-market strategies. You will lead analytical projects, work closely with global teams, and use your expertise in data science and storytelling to influence decisions across business units.
This role is ideal for a data-driven professional who thrives on translating complex data into strategic recommendations and is comfortable collaborating across functions in a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop analytic solutions (dashboards, prototypes) using statistical and data science techniques for global pricing, product, and service analysis.
Lead advanced cross-functional analytics projects that identify optimization opportunities and drive strategic business decisions.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver high-quality, on-time solutions.
Apply the 80/20 rule to focus efforts on high-impact modeling and reporting.
Use tools like Python, Spark, Alteryx, Hive, Impala, and SQL to manipulate large-scale datasets and derive insights.
Create and present data stories using Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Implement data validation, cleansing, and quality control processes.
Supervise and mentor analyst-level team members.
Communicate data-driven insights and business implications clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Experience
6–9 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related fields.
Strong hands-on experience with tools such as Python, Spark, Alteryx, Hive, Impala, and advanced SQL.
Proven ability to design and develop dashboards using Tableau or PowerBI.
Experience working with Hadoop-based platforms and large-scale databases.
Demonstrated ability to interact with business stakeholders and translate their needs into analytics-driven solutions.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong data storytelling and communication skills, both technical and business-oriented.
Understanding of machine learning frameworks and data modeling is a plus.
Preferred Skills
Certification in Tableau or PowerBI.
Knowledge of software architecture, data structures, and ML libraries.
Strong project management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate under ambiguity with a self-motivated, innovative mindset.
