Role Overview
Join Mastercard’s Network & Digital Payments group as a Manager of Software Engineering, leading teams to build, enhance, and support digital payment applications. This is a people-first leadership role with strong emphasis on hands-on coding, technical mentoring, and delivering scalable cloud-native products in a global environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and supervise high-performing engineering teams building multiple Java Full Stack applications.
Collaborate with product owners to design and implement new features and services.
Set performance objectives, monitor progress, and ensure continuous improvement of team output.
Hire and grow top-tier technical talent, ensuring strong engineering culture.
Guide and mentor team members through regular 1:1s, feedback, and development planning.
Promote Mastercard Way behaviors through coaching and employee engagement.
Participate in technical architecture reviews and lead strategic design discussions.
Drive engineering productivity, code quality, and compliance with Mastercard’s technology policies.
Partner with global leadership to elevate engineering excellence in digital payments.
Contribute to roadmap execution, release planning, and delivery processes.
Technical Requirements
Strong experience in backend/server-side development using Java and Spring Framework.
Proven expertise in developing and deploying RESTful APIs and microservices.
Hands-on experience with full stack technologies, including front-end, middleware, and backend.
Experience with CI/CD tools and containerization platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
Practical exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience building 12-factor, scalable applications using modern deployment practices.
Familiarity with architecture patterns like Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Systems, and stateless services.
Working knowledge of DevOps and secure coding standards.
Strong understanding of infrastructure needs: compute, networking, storage, and databases.
Tools knowledge: Jenkins, Splunk, Kafka, Redis, Oracle, API gateways.
Preferred Skills
Experience deploying apps on Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
Familiarity with cryptography, HSM, and security-first coding.
Working knowledge of modern Agile frameworks like SAFe or Scrum.
Background in mentoring cross-functional engineering teams globally.
Passionate about quality assurance, performance, and continuous testing strategies.
Experience with observability tools, code quality metrics, and performance profiling.
