Role Overview
Mastercard is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join the Advanced Analytics team and play a pivotal role in delivering next-generation AI-based products. This role will contribute to the development and deployment of globally scalable data-driven solutions that span customer lifecycles across financial services, retail, and commerce. Working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Data, and Delivery teams, the candidate will apply advanced machine learning and analytics expertise to transform ideas into intelligent, market-ready products.
Key Responsibilities
Drive data science-led product evolution within the Advanced Analytics portfolio.
Apply machine learning, statistics, and AI to build scalable analytics solutions.
Evaluate, prototype, and apply new AI/ML techniques, platforms, and tools.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to prioritize and implement solutions aligned to customer needs.
Break large, complex initiatives into iterative milestones for agile delivery and feedback.
Evangelize releases, incorporate user feedback, and track adoption metrics.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior data scientists.
Identify product optimization and improvement opportunities through data insights.
Maintain a customer-centric and innovation-driven development mindset.
Ensure timely project delivery and alignment with organizational objectives.
Required Experience
7–10 years of experience in data science roles supporting product development.
Strong hands-on expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and statistics.
Proficient in Python, Spark, SQL, and R; able to work across multiple languages.
Experience working with big data tools like Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, or Databricks.
Proven application of data science to solve real-world business problems.
Demonstrated project ownership, execution excellence, and stakeholder collaboration.
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Background in developing AI-powered solutions with a focus on scalability and usability.
Strong curiosity and passion for innovation, AI, and emerging technologies.
Master’s degree preferred in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
