Role Overview

Mastercard’s Configuration Management Inventory BizOps team is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to lead administration of BMC Discovery and associated Linux-based infrastructure. This role focuses on system reliability, automation, cross-platform integration, and supporting Mastercard’s global IT landscape with hybrid and cloud architecture deployments.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Administer and maintain the BMC Discovery platform across global infrastructure.

  2. Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Linux/Unix systems in multiple environments.

  3. Resolve discovery and connectivity issues across platforms including SSH, WMI, SNMP, and API integrations (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  4. Manage infrastructure upgrades, releases, migrations, and changes in accordance with ITIL change control practices.

  5. Lead incident resolution, monitoring, self-healing, and deployment automation activities.

  6. Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to align system reliability with product goals.

  7. Create and maintain detailed documentation and process runbooks.

  8. Coach junior team members on best practices in system reliability and automation.

  9. Integrate BMC Discovery with CMDBs like ServiceNow or Remedy.

  10. Drive platform innovations, optimize system performance, and reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery).


Technical Requirements

  1. 5+ years of experience in BMC Discovery/ADDM administration.

  2. Strong Linux OS experience (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, OEL).

  3. Experience with SNMP walks, MIB-tree reviews, and WMI connections.

  4. Familiar with REST APIs, curl, payload/request handling, and swagger documentation.

  5. Knowledge of configuration management tools: Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Ansible, etc.

  6. Proficient in scripting languages: Bash, Python, Powershell, Perl.

  7. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and version control using Git.

  8. Familiarity with security protocols, SSL/TLS, and authentication/authorization principles.

  9. Exposure to App servers and runtimes like Apache, Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss.

  10. Understanding of Agile methodology and DevOps best practices.


Preferred Skills

  1. BMC Discovery Certification strongly preferred.

  2. 5+ years of experience with BMC Discovery architecture, patterns, REGx, and SAAM/CAM concepts.

  3. Experience integrating Discovery with ServiceNow CMDB or Remedy.

  4. Familiarity with Splunk, Dynatrace, Docker, Kubernetes.

  5. Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE.

  6. Experience with Windows Server 2012+, including software and package inventory.

  7. Working knowledge of patch management for Linux and Windows environments.

  8. Understanding of cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure.
