Role Overview
Mastercard’s Cross Border platform is expanding its global engineering leadership. The Senior Technical Program Manager will drive execution of large-scale, cross-functional digital payment initiatives, ensuring predictable and scalable delivery across multiple agile teams and technical domains. This role demands hands-on leadership in Agile practices, backlog ownership, team orchestration, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
Drive lean and agile practices including Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming across multiple teams.
Serve as the central facilitator of agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, planning, and retrospectives.
Ensure synchronization across team backlogs and dependency resolution across domains.
Create mechanisms for execution reporting and transparency, using visual backlog tracking tools.
Collaborate with product management to ensure healthy, prioritized, and refined backlogs.
Enable outcome delivery from inception through implementation across the tech stack.
Mentor teams on Agile, DevOps, and lean product principles; remove blockers and manage program-level risks.
Serve as the go-to contact for program status, driving continuous improvement in delivery processes.
Understand product, technical, and business strategy to align execution with Mastercard goals.
Evaluate solution designs for scalability, security, latency, and operational integrity.
Ensure software and operations teams are supported with maintainable and operable solutions.
Foster strong communication, enabling concise status updates and escalations to senior stakeholders.
Coordinate with external vendors or partners to accelerate delivery when applicable.
Play an active role in mentoring talent and supporting recruitment efforts.
Technical Requirements
Expertise in agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including Lean Product Management.
Hands-on experience with backlog management tools like Jira or Rally.
Strong knowledge of SDLC, CI/CD, and technical operations best practices.
Experience working closely with product owners, engineering teams, and external stakeholders.
Capability to recognize and address bottlenecks, risks, and delivery gaps.
Ability to align program-level delivery with organizational KPIs and success metrics.
Proficiency in working with distributed teams across geographies and time zones.
Background in software engineering or product management is highly preferred.
