About the Role
Part of the Regional Expansion team that manages Remitly’s core money transfer platform.
Build and enhance solutions for expanding into new markets with reliable disbursement methods (bank deposit, cash pickup, mobile wallets, home delivery).
Opportunity to learn distributed systems, scalable architecture, and real-world global payments technology.
Receive mentorship from senior engineers while contributing to impactful projects.
Responsibilities
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for regional expansion initiatives.
Develop backend services, APIs, and microservices for scalable systems.
Collaborate with senior engineers on design, architecture, and implementation.
Participate in code reviews and technical discussions for continuous quality improvement.
Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance issues, and system bottlenecks.
Contribute to cloud-based development (AWS) and deployment processes.
Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to align on business needs.
Continuously learn and apply new technical knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Requirements
2+ years of software development experience focusing on backend services and distributed systems.
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent backend programming languages.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and scalable application deployment.
Understanding of APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Strong problem-solving abilities and collaborative mindset.
Eagerness to learn, seek mentorship, and grow in a fast-paced team.
Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, data storage, and retrieval best practices.
Interest in regional financial regulations, security, and compliance in fintech/global payments.
