About the Role
Work within the Global Regional Expansion team managing Remitly’s core remittance platform.
Focus on building scalable, regionally customized solutions to enhance customer remittance experience.
Lead expansion programs ensuring both regional customization and global scalability.
Mentor and coach engineers and senior technologists, fostering technical excellence.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering Management, and cross-functional teams to shape strategy with a customer-centric approach.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
Provide technical leadership and coach distributed teams of engineers.
Guide strategic programs, influencing technical direction and design.
Collaborate on defining project requirements with cross-functional partners.
Solve complex, ambiguous problems requiring innovative solutions.
Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and contribute to code reviews.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Address scaling challenges and reduce unnecessary complexity.
Contribute to reducing technical debt and defining long-term technical roadmap.
Requirements
8+ years of experience in software development.
Proficiency in Java, Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Expertise in software development life cycles and methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
Experience leading design reviews and influencing technical decisions.
Strong understanding of security best practices.
Ability to balance technical trade-offs, scalability, and system improvements.
