About WeRize

Founded in 2019 by Vishal Chopra and Himanshu Gupta, WeRize is on a mission to build India’s largest full-stack fintech platform, targeting 500 million underserved middle-class customers in over 5,000 small towns across the country. As a part of Wortgage Technologies Pvt Ltd, WeRize also operates an RBI-registered NBFC subsidiary, Wortgage Finance Pvt Ltd. This customer segment is often overlooked by private sector banks, insurers, and mutual fund companies due to their low ticket size and lifetime value, relying heavily on PSU and government banks that provide limited financial products.

WeRize offers innovative solutions, including unsecured consumer credit, mortgages, loan against property, MSME loans, savings, and insurance products tailored to the specific needs and purchasing power of this demographic. While many customers in these areas have smartphones, they require guidance and support in choosing the right financial products, which is why a purely digital model is insufficient. WeRize has addressed this gap with its “Finance ki Online Dukaan” (Social Shopify of Finance)—a unique social distribution tech platform that empowers local, financially literate freelancers in small towns to source business through both online and offline channels. These freelancers earn commissions of up to INR 30,000 per month from WeRize.

This social distribution model, supported by tech-enabled freelancers, allows WeRize to maintain exceptionally low customer acquisition costs (CAC) and operational expenses compared to fully digital or traditional financial services. Digital conversion rates in these areas are typically lower than in metropolitan regions, making traditional CAC strategies ineffective. Unlike competitors like LIC and Fino Bank, which deploy on-field teams for freelancer management, WeRize effectively trains and manages thousands of freelancers solely through its tech platform, resulting in a highly profitable business model.
