Service Line: Markets Post Trade


Role Overview:

  1. As an Engineer Developer at Barclays, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining First Line of Control (FLoC) applications.

  2. The role requires close coordination with global teams in the US and India.

  3. You will be responsible for end-to-end development, proactive support, and driving DevOps maturity across applications.

  4. A high level of accountability, communication, and collaboration is essential to success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Gather functional requirements through direct interaction with business teams and global leads.

  2. Translate business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

  3. Design, code, and test new application features using Java 17, Spark, Spring Boot, and Microservices.

  4. Write efficient unit and regression test cases to validate implementations.

  5. Support L1 teams by proactively resolving production issues and ensuring application stability.

  6. Contribute to DevOps implementation and CI/CD automation using GitLab, Autosys, etc.

  7. Provide consistent and timely status updates to all stakeholders.

  8. Collaborate across global teams to ensure smooth project execution.


Technical Requirements:

  1. Strong expertise in Java 17, Spark, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.

  2. Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.

  3. Familiarity with Kafka, Apache Ignite, and Cucumber Framework (preferred).

  4. Basic knowledge of React for frontend support (added advantage).

  5. Hands-on experience in GitLab, Autosys, and DevOps pipelines.

  6. Exposure to Agile Scrum/Kanban methodologies.


Preferred Skills:

  1. Strong stakeholder engagement, especially across global teams.

  2. Experience with Agile delivery frameworks and sprint-based development.

  3. Familiarity with cloud-native development and containerization is a plus.

  4. Understanding of secure coding standards and compliance practices.

  5. Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
