Join Barclays as a Ref Data Software Engineer, where you will lead the development of high-performance, cloud-native reference data solutions. You’ll work with cutting-edge tools including AWS, Kafka, and NoSQL technologies to build scalable systems, enhance customer experiences, and support business-critical data services. Your work will contribute directly to modernizing the infrastructure for global financial operations.
Design and develop scalable software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS services.
Collaborate with business analysts and technology teams to translate business requirements into effective technical designs.
Integrate Kafka for event-driven architecture and implement NoSQL solutions where applicable.
Work with Goldensource EDM platform and databases like PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
Apply secure coding practices and implement effective unit testing.
Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality.
Stay updated with evolving technologies and actively contribute to internal engineering forums.
Ensure adherence to performance, reliability, and governance standards.
4–6 years of experience in backend development using Java 11+, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS (Lambda, CloudWatch, S3).
Hands-on experience with Kafka, NoSQL databases, and Goldensource EDM platform; experience with SQL Server/PostgreSQL is required.
Strong Java development experience with Spring Boot, JPA, and Microservices.
Expertise in building RESTful web services.
Hands-on experience with AWS services: Lambda, CloudWatch, and S3.
Working knowledge of Kafka for messaging/event streaming.
Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
Familiarity with SQL Server or PostgreSQL and Goldensource EDM platform.
Good understanding of MVC architecture and basic CI/CD pipeline tools.
Exposure to cloud deployment via CloudFormation or aPaaS/Openshift is a plus.
