Role Overview:

  1. As a Settlements Portal Senior Developer at Barclays, you will work on enterprise-grade financial platforms that support core settlements functions.

  2. You will play a key role in designing and delivering scalable, secure microservices and APIs, ensuring seamless integration and superior performance across the settlement domain.

  3. You will collaborate with analysts, product managers, and engineering peers to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain enterprise-level microservices using Java 8+, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.

  2. Implement secure, efficient, and fault-tolerant software solutions within the settlements and service operations platforms.

  3. Manage microservices environments with Spring Cloud, Eureka, Gateway, and ELK for observability.

  4. Write high-quality SQL queries, stored procedures, and database views for Microsoft SQL Server.

  5. Work with messaging systems such as JMS, ActiveMQ, TIBCO EMS, or IBM MQ.

  6. Develop TDD-based unit tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Groovy.

  7. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git, Jenkins/TeamCity, SonarQube, and HashiCorp Vault.

  8. Follow Agile practices and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.

  9. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and ensure platform reliability.


Technical Requirements:

  1. Advanced experience in Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, JPA, JQL.

  2. Skilled in building RESTful APIs aligned with OpenAPI specifications.

  3. Hands-on with Spring Cloud Netflix stack, observability tools (OpenTelemetry, ELK dashboards).

  4. Strong command over SQL, query optimization, and RDBMS fundamentals.

  5. Familiar with messaging middleware (ActiveMQ, TIBCO EMS, IBM MQ).

  6. Good exposure to DevOps and version control (Git, Bitbucket), CICD tooling (Jenkins/TeamCity).

  7. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.


Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in financial services, especially in banking or regulatory systems.

  2. Exposure to Linux/Unix systems for deployments and scripting.

  3. Familiarity with agile frameworks and iterative software delivery.

  4. Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.
