Architecture

In this tutorial, we are going to learn about the Architecture of Power BI.

Power BI Architecture:

Power BI Architecture has three stages explaining the whole process of creating reports and dashboards from data sourcing. The phases include ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) to handle the data.

  • Data Sourcing: Power BI finds & extracts data from various servers like Excel, CSV files & databases, this extracted data can be imported directly into Power BI or a live service link can also be established. Heavy or chunky datasets that cannot be imported directly into Power BI can be extracted by running live queries.
  • Data Processing: Before presenting the data for the staging area to perform any sort of operation or visualization the data needs to be preprocessed and this is how data is pre-processed. The pre-process includes removing redundant values / missing values from data sets.
  • Data Presentation: Once the data has been loaded and processed, it can be much more effectively visualized using the various visualization options provided by Power BI.
We display the data more rationally by using dashboards and reports.
These visual reports enable the business side to make informed business decisions.

The Power BI Architecture is depicted in the following image as follow:
